SEO blog articles for your Shopify store, published for you
Product pages alone rarely answer the questions people type into Google before they buy. BoltSEO writes those articles in your brand voice and publishes them to your Shopify blog, so your store shows up earlier in the search.
Why a Shopify store needs a blog
Shoppers search for problems and comparisons long before they search for a product name: how to choose, what fits, what to use when. Those searches land on articles, not on collection pages. A store without a blog is simply absent from that part of the journey.
Every Shopify plan includes a blog, but keeping it alive takes time most store owners do not have. BoltSEO fills it: it reads your store, finds keywords you can realistically rank for, writes the article and links it to relevant pages on your site.
Published through Shopify's own Admin API
BoltSEO connects through a custom app that you create in your own Shopify admin, with access limited to your online store content. Articles are created in your store's blog and appear in your theme like anything you would write yourself.
You approve each article with one click, or switch on auto-publish (Growth plan and up) to let new articles go out on your schedule.
Connect Shopify in three steps
- 1
Create a custom app
In Shopify admin, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps and create an app called “BoltSEO”. Give it the read_content and write_content Admin API scopes, then install it.
- 2
Copy the Admin API token
After installing, Shopify shows an Admin API access token that starts with shpat_. Copy it; Shopify only shows it once.
- 3
Add it in BoltSEO
Open Integrations, choose Shopify and enter your myshopify.com domain and the token. Add your public domain too, so article links point at your real store address.
What arrives in Shopify
Each article is created as a published article in your store's blog.
Title and handle
A search-friendly title and a short URL handle for the article.
Formatted body
HTML with headings, lists, tables and images, styled by your Shopify theme.
Keyword tag
The article's main keyword is added as a tag, so you can group and filter posts in your theme.
Internal links
Links to relevant pages that already exist on your store, in the article's language.
Shopify questions
Which Shopify plans does this work with?
Any plan with the online store's built-in blog, which is every standard Shopify plan. BoltSEO only needs a custom app with content permissions.
Can BoltSEO change my products or orders?
No. The custom app only needs read_content and write_content, which cover blogs, articles and pages. It has no access to products, orders or customers.
Which blog do articles go to?
Articles are published to your store's blog. If you have more than one, BoltSEO uses the first one Shopify returns.
Can I write in more than one language?
Yes. BoltSEO writes in English, Dutch, German and French, with keyword research for each market rather than translating from English.
How do I disconnect?
Remove the connection in BoltSEO, or uninstall the custom app in Shopify. Articles already published stay in your blog.
